Abstract

This study aims to evaluate learning assessment practices in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the secondary school level in Sampang Regency. The focus of this research is to examine the planning, implementation, and follow-up of learning assessments conducted by teachers, as well as to identify the challenges encountered in the assessment process. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of the study consisted of teachers and school administrators at selected secondary schools. The results indicate that learning assessment practices under the Merdeka Curriculum have generally been implemented in accordance with curriculum guidelines, particularly in the use of formative and summative assessments. However, several obstacles were identified, including limited teacher understanding of assessment instruments, difficulties in developing rubrics, and time constraints in conducting continuous assessments. Schools and teachers have made various efforts to overcome these challenges, such as participating in professional development programs, conducting teacher discussions, and utilizing digital assessment tools. In conclusion, although learning assessment practices in the Merdeka Curriculum at the secondary school level have been implemented fairly well, continuous support and training for teachers are still needed to improve the quality of assessment..
